other ideas
4. Time after time - Miles Davis - Jazz

To begin my search for repertoire:

For my theme of pop on the flugelhorn:

Some of the things I was looking for were
  • A song with a catchy hook
  • A pop song structure

Human Nature
  • As my performance is based in the theme of pop music on the flugelhorn
  • Pop
  • Challenging myself with learning a song with
Versace on the floor
  • Another pop song  based on the first idea
  • Funk, Contemporary R&B
Versace On The Floor was one of the promo singles released from Mars’ new album 24K Magic. Touted as the LP’s big ballad, it is a brilliant piece of pop songwriting, simple but with an irresistible hook. So is the arrangement which has nothing superfluous that can detract from the earworm, “I can listen to this all day,” appeal of the melody. It is sleek with a sweet soul vibe that harks back to the traditional R&B of The Miracles or Boyz II Men.
If I ain't got you
  • Genres: R&B and Contemporary soul - Modern Popular music
After choosing the first three songs to be in my setlist, I didn't have enough material in order to fill the whole 20 minutes of my performance, and therefore, I began to search for additional repertoire to add to my list.
As all of the songs in my list already relate in terms of their genre (pop music), I decided that it would be now relevant to play something which contrasts slightly.

The way that the three songs already in the set list relate to each other is through the genre...,

Practice routine for the week commencing 26.11.18

I decided to create a practice routine for the songs in my setlist in order to simplify and motivate my practice while working on the parts that require the most work.
For the songs in the list which are previously learned, I will be doing review sessions where I will review the song a few times a week with possible tweaks to the improvisation elements I will be using.
